Review: Carnage is the latest film from director Roman Polanski, a film with a minimalistic plot, two sets of parents decide to meet after their sons get into a fight, that relies on a sharp script and actor power in order to tell a story. Although the concept in not entirely new and you might tell from the first minutes how the events are going to unfold, the film has a good pace and provides the viewer with some decent laughs being quite entertaining for a flick that is mostly based on dialogue.

The acting is what you would expect from a movie that features such big names, Christoph Waltz and Kate Winslet being particularly good here. Carnage reminded me of the times when you only needed some talented actors and a good script in order to make a good movie, there was no need for flashy special effects or over the top action scenes.

If you liked films like Whos afraid of Virginia Woolf? or Glengarry Glen Ross where the actors and the story are the ones who really matter, you might want to give Carnage a try as well. Although it may not reach the standards set by those movies, Polanskis film manages to be enjoyable, well paced and offers a satisfying movie experience.

I thought Carnage was interesting, it was a new type of romantic movie, and a smart one as well. After that it all went downhill. I saw 3 movies too many. Now I refuse to even watch this movie again, but, apparently there are still people out there that can enjoy a movie like this and I am glad they can.

Carnage combines parts of Pocahontas and Braveheart by using a liberal dose of Room Marines into an epic complete that requires practically 3 complete hours to unfold. We could criticise that length, the weak story along with the hammy dialogue. We could attack its thinly-veiled ecological message or even the frankly bizarre spirituality in its second 50 % but honestly absolutely nothing can spoil the expertise despite the fact that youre enveloped in it. Along with a big component of that is certainly down towards the brilliant use of 3D – which can be both subtle and amazingly valu able. Til now, we are already doing films with 3D components, Avatar often is the initially unquestionably 3D movie and may possibly nicely prove to generally be a particular of a most major points to come about to blockbuster film-making seeing that Carnage.

I agree with you on Carnage – the first half hour of it was great, actually. tailed off a bit towards end but still a way better film than it should have been

As well as a massive portion of which is down on the brilliant use of 3D – that is both subtle and exceptionally helpful. Til now, we are actually generating films with 3D factors, Avatar stands out as the earliest surely 3D movie and could possibly properly prove being single of ones most substantial points to occur to blockbuster film-making considering Carnage.

Carnage is a genuinely great movie– disappointing summer aside. It’s more refreshing, perhaps, due to the fact that this season has been so ,minimal, but Carnage easily deserves praise all on its own merits rather than by lack of good competition.
