Review: Despite some criticism this movie has been getting it s actually a pretty good prequel and didn t feel like a waste of time to see it. To appreciate this prequel you really need to see the 1982 movie that this is a prequel of because of how cleverly it connects with the 1982 The Thing . Without the constant mindset of how 1982 version is so much better and have a new outlook is the best way to enjoy this prequel. Kinda odd how it has the same exact title as the 1982 The Thing when it s a prequel, it would have made more sense if it had something else in the title like Awakening or something else. But there might be plans for a remake or a sequel after the 1982 movie. Now this movie isn t groundbreaking for present time like how the 1982 film was groundbreaking for it s time but it s still a cool and entertaining prequel. The CGI is pretty darn good and the design of the alien creatures the infect other people is very well made. And can even be really creepy at times since it s a mutation with alien and human or humans. This movie simply has many good elements and although there is a bit more of the being hunted than paranoia scene it was still intriguing from beginning to end. This is a well crafted prequel done right, it isn t a super amazing sci-fi horror movie but it s close to being great. Just the way it connects and fills in the gaps that wasn t wasn t answered before is not forced and is done pretty good with it s connection to the 1982 movie. So yeah to truly appreciate this movie watch the 1982 version or visa versa. Yeah there are some areas that are similar to the 1982 version, but I didn t mind those parts all that much since it s similar but the way they go about it is different and still sort of suspenseful. Now I still think the 1982 The Thing is slightly better if I had to compare. But this movie is very close behind and it s simply almost a perfect movie to watch during Halloween night.

The Thing is a genuinely great movie– disappointing summer aside. It’s more refreshing, perhaps, due to the fact that this season has been so lacking, but The Thing easily deserves praise all on its own merits rather than by lack of good competition.

I agree with you on The Thing – the first half hour of it was great, actually. tailed off a bit towards end but still a way better film than it should have been

wow just what a superb video. I was heading to view The Thing in the movie theater but instead I enjoyed it here for free

I thought The Thing was interesting, it was a new type of romantic movie, and a smart one as well. After that it all went downhill. I saw 3 movies too many. Now I cannot bear to even watch this movie again, but, apparently there are still people out there that can enjoy a movie like this and I am glad they can.

The film The Thing is worth it to view. the The Thing is so phenomenal. It’s a strangely paced flick and suffers at times from very long exposition and poorly contrived story lines that seem to be added to no doubt develop the storyline rather than the The Thing story that I wanted to see.

The Thing combines parts of Pocahontas and Braveheart which has a liberal dose of Room Marines into an epic complete that requires practically 3 total hours to unfold. We could criticise that length, the weak story along with the hammy dialogue. We could attack its thinly-veiled ecological message or even the frankly bizarre spirituality in its second 50 percent but honestly practically nothing can spoil the encounter even while you happen to be enveloped in it. Along with a massive element of that could be down on the brilliant use of 3D – which can be both subtle and extremely helpful. Til now, we happen to be creating films with 3D components, Avatar would be the initial surely 3D movie and may properly prove for being one particular within the most substantial points to occur to blockbuster film-making considering The Thing.

I didn’t find it to long, it was at times a little too knowing and even self indulgent but I guess a film like that has to be! It makes my top ten of the year so far. Lets see if it stays there!

This flick was absolutely awesome. Already seen it three times. Loved the comics and this was the most satisfying adaptation I’ve ever seen mixed with the directors personal charm and tweaks. The Thing was just beautiful to watch and so fun to be a part of as an audience. LOVED IT.
